No. 22 Noles Open NCAA Championships

Minneapolis, Minn. – The No.22 Florida State men’s swimming and diving team opened competition at the 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
“We had a good morning with some bring spots,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “But we’re ready for a big day tomorrow.”
Swimming the 200 IM for the first time at NCAAs, Peter Varjasi was just off his career-best, touching with a time of 1:43.44 (1:43.17), finishing 30th. Varjasi will race in the 200 free on Friday.
Yordan Yanchev competed in the 500 free, touching with a time of 4:23.30. Yanchev will join Varjasi in the heats of the 200 free on Friday.
Arijus Pavlidi made his NCAA debut, racing in the 50 free. He clocked a time of 20.07 just off his best (19.77). Pavlidi will swim the 100 back on Friday.
Tazman Abramowicz will make his fifth NCAA Championship appearance on Friday, competing in the 3-meter prelims, which will begin at approximately 1 p.m.
