ATHENS, Ga. – The No.16/NR Florida State swimming and diving team closed out the four-day Georgia Invite on Friday at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia.

Against five top-20 opponents, the Seminoles notched seven top-five finishes, including one victory, with three top-10 times in school history.

"This group showed a lot of toughness throughout the meet," FSU head coach Neal Studd said. "We handled a long weekend of racing, put up some impressive swims and kept fighting in every session. I like where we're headed as we move into the next part of the season."

The 16th-ranked Seminole men placed third as a team with 759.50 points, ahead of No. 13 LSU (578.50), No. 14 Alabama (522) and Georgia Tech (274). No. 4 Florida (947) and No. 8 Georgia (799) took first and second. The women finished fifth with 490.50 points to best Georgia Tech (256). No. 7 Florida (1,044.50) was first, followed by No. 11 LSU (708), No. 16 Alabama (697.50) and No. 18 Georgia (680.50).

As diving wrapped up competition on platform, redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark claimed the title with a score of 314.70, her second top-three finish of the week.

In the 200 butterfly, sophomore Logan Robinson carried over his strong NCAA-cut prelim swim of 1:41.76 and dropped more than a second in the final to finish second overall in 1:40.40.

Junior Gustav Olsson opened the 100 freestyle with a 42.63 in prelims to improve his time at No. 10 in program history. He followed it up with a third-place finish in the final in 42.43, an NCAA cut that tied him with senior Max Wilson for seventh all-time at FSU.

Wilson added a standout swim of his own in the 100 freestyle, touching the wall in 42.07 to move up to No. 3 in the school record book. It was the fastest time in the night's B final.

Momentum continued with sophomore Mathias Christensen, who placed fifth in the 200 individual medley in 1:46.06, while senior Jaka Pusnik delivered a personal best 1:44.78 to take sixth in the 200 butterfly.

Also on platform, sophomore Carlos Vargas turned in a career-best 364.10 as he finished third. Freshman Brooklyn Markusson placed fifth in her platform debut with a 236.15.

The 200 butterfly saw senior Sophie Freeman finish seventh overall in 1:59.67. Senior Sarah Evans finished 12th in the 200 backstroke in 1:58.67 while sophomore Maryn McDade added a 15th-place swim in the 100 freestyle (49.45).

FSU closed out the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay as McDade, junior Maysa Ratiu, freshman Ioana Stirbu and sophomore Mary Leigh Hardman combined for a 3:17.47.

Up next, the Seminoles return to Morcom Aquatics Center on January 6 to host Villanova in their first meet of 2026. The USA Diving Winter Nationals will also be held December 7-15, with more information to follow.
