TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Freshman Cam Smith hit two more home runs Friday night and now has five in his last three games and 11 on the season. With two home runs Wednesday at North Florida, he is the first Seminole since Buster Posey in 2008 with back-to-back multi-home run games.
Smith hit two of FSU’s four home runs, joining James Tibbs III and Nander De Sedas. Tibbs’ home run was on the first pitch in the first inning, FSU’s first leadoff home run since Taylor Walls in 2017. De Sedas’s was his fifth of the season, and the four home runs tied FSU’s season high.
Jackson Baumeister struck out nine batters in 5.0 innings, his second-most in a game this year, behind his 14 against Clemson. After a leadoff walk, Baumeister retired the next eight batters as FSU led 5-0 through three innings.
Virginia Tech won, 24-9.
