Tibbs’ Hits Second Leadoff HR

SOUTH BEND, Indiana – Notre Dame beat Florida State, 12-2, Saturday afternoon to even the weekend series between the teams at Frank Eck Stadium. The rubber match is set for Sunday at 3:00 pm.
The Seminoles led 2-0 after solo home runs from James Tibbs and Nander De Sedas. Tibbs’ home run was his team-high 13th of the season and was his second leadoff home run of the year. De Sedas now has six home runs, one shy of his career-high seven in 2021.
The Irish took the lead with six runs in the fourth inning; Notre Dame also scored six runs in the eighth inning.
After Treyton Rank’s double in the fourth inning, Notre Dame retired 14 straight Seminoles until De Sedas’s single in the ninth inning.

- Before last week, Florida State went nearly six years without a leadoff home run, with its last coming in June of 2017. In just five games in the leadoff spot, James Tibbs now has two leadoff home runs in the past eight days. He leads FSU with 13 home runs, 35 RBI and 45 runs scored
- Nander De Sedas extended his hitting streak to a team-high six games with a solo home run, his sixth of the year. He now has 19 home runs in his career, second on the team behind Tibbs’ 23. De Sedas’s two hits tied a season high.
- DeAmez Ross singled to extend his hitting streak to four games. He also stole his team-high fifth base of the year.
- Jaime Ferrer hit his team-high 17th double of the year (and second of the series). He leads FSU in doubles and hits (59); Ferrer has a four-game hitting streak.
- Andrew Armstrong made his 26th pitching appearance and second of the weekend. He entered the series Top 10 nationally in pitching appearances. Brennen Oxford is now tied for second on the team with 19 pitching appearances.
- Florida State turned its 33rd double play of the season, surpassing its 2022 total.
