DeAmez Ross Hits First Career Home Run

SOUTH BEND, Indiana – Freshman DeAmez Ross hit a go-ahead three-run home run – the first of his career – in Florida State’s 12-8 loss at Notre Dame on Sunday. Ross is the ninth Seminole with a home run this season.
Colton Vincent and Jaime Ferrer combined to add four hits and five RBI, while Treyton Rank had three hits and scored a pair of runs.
Ross’s home run came in Florida State’s four-run third inning, erasing the Irish’s 2-0 lead. The game was tied at 5-5 after Ferrer’s RBI double before Notre Dame scored seven consecutive and led 12-5 entering the seventh inning.
The Seminoles scored the final three runs, and Brennen Oxford pitched the final 2.1 innings without allowing a run, but FSU’s comeback fell short with a scoreless ninth inning.

OF NOTE:
- DeAmez Ross gave FSU a lead with a three-run home run, his first career home run. His three RBI tied a career high.
- Jaime Ferrer hit his team-best 18th double, and third of the weekend. He had two hits, two total RBI and now leads FSU with 36 RBI and 18 multi-hit games.
- Ross and Ferrer have a team-high five-game hitting streak.
- James Tibbs drew his 33rd walk of the season, 17 more than the next-closest Seminole (Cam Smith, 16). He also hit two doubles, his ninth and 10th of the year.
- Florida State turned its 34th double play of the season.
- Jordan Carrion walked and improved to 3-for-3 on stolen base chances.
- Colton Vincent was hit by a pitch for a team-high eighth time. He reached safely all four times, with a walk, HBP, a single and double.
- Treyton Rank and Vincent both tied a career high with two runs scored. Rank tied a season high with three hits.
