TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – First team All-Americans Charlotte Heath and Lottie Woad lead another incredible list of Florida State Women's Golfers who have been named to the 2023 ACC Academic Honor Roll by the conference office. Heath and Woad are joined by freshman Katherine Cook, sophomores Madison Hewlett and Kaylah Williams, and junior Alice Hodge along with 290 Florida State student-athletes who were honored in the annual compilation of the highest of the academic achievers in the nation's top conference for academics and athletics.
The Women's Golf Team at Florida State earned the honor of having at least five players named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 12 consecutive years and in 12 of Amy Bond's 13 years as its head coach.
Hodge, a rising senior majoring in Finance, was named to the ACC Academic Honor roll for the third time in her career. Hewlett and Williams were named for the second consecutive season, while Woad, Cook and Heath were honored for the first times in their careers.
The six members of the 2022-23 Seminoles' Women's Golf team have earned academic honors as Florida State student-athletes a total of 16 times – six times on the Academic President's List (4.0 GPA) and 10 times on the Academic Dean's List (3.5 GPA). Hewlett is a three-time President's List honoree, while Hodge is a two-time President's List, and a four-time Dean's List honoree.
As a team, Florida State earned a 3.560 cumulative grade point average during their main competitive season during the spring of 2023. Each of the Seminoles on the roster has combined for a cumulative GPA of 3.512 for their entire careers.
"The commitment to academic success by the women on our team on an annual basis is amazing," said Bond. "Each player on our team earned a GPA of better than 3.1 during the spring season when they are on the road and competing during week in and week out during the final three months of the academic calendar. It's why there are two certainties as a Florida State golfer – you'll compete for national championships and earn your degree. We are all very proud of every member of our team because of their dedication to incredibly high achievement in everything they do in their lives."
The Seminoles finished the 2023 season ranked in the nation's top-10 in both the Golfstat (No. 9) and Golfweek (No. 10) rankings. The Seminoles finished in a tie for fifth and advanced to the match play at the NCAA Championship Finals for the second consecutive year, finished in fifth at the NCAA Raleigh Regional Championship and won the tournament championships at the Schooner Fall Classic and Florida State Match Up in 2022-23.
"Each member of the Florida State Women's Golf program works extremely hard on the golf course and in the classroom," said Corey Talley, Assistant Director of Florida State's Student-Athlete Academic Services Unit. "The golfers apply themselves to academics by not just doing the bare minimum to stay eligible, instead, they go after challenging courses and majors and do extremely well in them. Every semester, the FSU Women's golf program always has one of the highest team GPAs in the whole department."
In being named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the first time in their careers, Heath and Woad are the fifth and sixth players in the history of the women's golf program at Florida State to earn both First-Team All-American and ACC Honor Roll mention in the same season.
The ACC Academic Honor Roll consists of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year. The conference recognized a record 5,942 student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom.
