Brown and Roque Named to Preseason All-ACC Team; Noles Picked to Finish Second in the ACC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Returning All-Americans Jody Brown and Cristina Roque were each named to the Preseason All-ACC Team on Thursday afternoon. The Seminoles were picked to finish second in the Preseason ACC Poll and received two first-place votes. The Noles were one of just three teams to place multiple athletes on the Preseason All-ACC Team.Â
Brown returns for her senior year for the Seminoles after a breakout season in 2022. Brown tallied a career-high eight goals and 10 assists for the Noles in 2022. Brown rose to the occasion multiple times during the 2022 season as she posted multi-goal games against No. 14 Clemson and No. 12 Duke. Six out of Brown's eight goals in 2022 were against teams ranked inside the top 15 including the game-winning goal against North Carolina to give the Noles their third consecutive ACC Championship.Â
The reigning ACC Goalkeeper of the Year returns after another stellar season for the Seminoles. Roque finished 2022 with 60 total saves and a 0.87 goals-against average. Roque shined in big matches against No. 1 Virginia where she had a season-high 10 saves against the Cavaliers to earn her ACC Goalkeeper of the Week. Roque also put together a terrific performance in the ACC Semifinals against Notre Dame where she tallied nine saves to give the Seminoles the win in penalty kicks. Roque currently ranks third all-time in FSU history with 26 shutouts and fourth all-time with 40 wins.Â
The Seminoles begin their season tomorrow night against Texas A&M at 8 p.m. on the SEC Network.Â
