TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida State baseball head coach Link Jarrett named two additions to his coaching staff Wednesday, with Rob Collison joining as quality control analyst for catching and pitching, while Bryce Hulett will be a graduate assistant.
Collison comes to FSU from Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee, where he was an assistant coach with a hand in all areas of the program, including recruiting, hitting and pitching, while also running practices for the catchers. Collison would create scouting reports through Synergy data and analyze Rapsodo stadium data.
Prior to joining Walters State, Collison was a bullpen catcher and coaching apprentice with the Houston Astros. After spending Spring Training with the Astros – where he caught bullpens and tossed batting practice – he spent the regular season with the Asheville Tourists, the Astros High A affiliate, where he assisted the pitchers with pitch design using TrackMan and Edgertronic.
Collison spent five years at Samford University, as a bullpen catcher from 2017-2020 and as a graduate assistant coach in 2021. The Bulldogs won the Southern Conference tournament and reached the NCAA postseason in 2018 and 2021 with Collison.
After two seasons at State College of Florida, Hulett, a Lake Wales, Florida, native, was a three-year starter at Pitt under former Seminole Mike Bell. Manning first base for the Panthers from 2020-22, Hulett was a .278 career hitter at Pitt with 13 home runs, two triples and 20 doubles among his 115 hits. In his final season, Hulett hit a career-high nine home runs and fielded .992 over his time with the Panthers.
Most recently, Hulett was a head coach in the Florida Gulf Coast summer league and an assistant coach with Warner University in Lake Wales. Hulett was the head coach for the junior varsity team, and assisted with practices, created infield drills and threw batting practice with the varsity team.
