Noles Hit the Road to Mississippi State and Alabama

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 20 Florida State men's tennis team hits the road for the first time this season and continues through the non-conference slate visiting No. 17 Mississippi State and Alabama through the weekend.
The Seminoles will begin in Starkville to face Mississippi State on Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern Time before taking a short drive east on Route 82 to Tuscaloosa for a 12 p.m. ET meeting with Alabama.
Florida State fell to the Bulldogs at home last season in a tight loss but defeated them in their last meeting in Starkville in 2021. The Crimson Tide and Seminoles haven't squared off since 2018 but Florida State took three of the last four matches between the two.
The opening weekend saw Florida State sweep both Mercer and Jacksonville State in the doubleheader this past Saturday. Florida State only dropped two sets on opening day and remarkably gave up no sets to Mercer in the first match of the season.
There were some standout performances over the first day as French duo Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif dominated the doubles round with a 6-2 win over Mercer and led 4-2 over their Jacksonville State opponents before the Noles took the doubles point.
Freshman Justin Lyons held his own in his spring debut with a doubles victory and two singles match wins while Algerian senior Youcef Rihane won all four sets in the singles matches and even blanked his opponent twice with two 6-0 set wins.
Florida State will look to get out to the hot start that it had last season, beginning with five straight victories which included a dominating victory over No. 7 Georgia.
