TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – No. 22 Florida State (11-3, 2-0) goes for its 11th AP Top 5 win on Thursday night when it battles third-ranked NC State (13-0, 1-0) at 7 p.m. at Reynolds Coliseum. The game can be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
FSU's last Top-5 win came under the direction of then-interim head coach Brooke Wyckoff when the Seminoles defeated No. 3 Louisville, 68-59, at home on Feb. 21, 2021.
Latson has 930 career points through 44 games. If she reaches 1,000 points by her 47th game (next Thursday vs. UNC), she would be the fastest 1,000-point scorer in FSU history.
Junior guard O'Mariah Gordon has been impressive in FSU's three games this season vs. AP Top 25 teams (#11 Tennessee, #4 Stanford, #2 UCLA). In those games, Gordon is averaging 15.3 points, shooting 48.5 percent overall (16-of-33), 50 percent from three-point range (5-of-10) and owns 11 assists to just four turnovers.
Against ranked opponents this season, FSU is shooting 48 percent (24-of-50) from three-point range. Those numbers are greatly aided by a 13-of-22 performance from beyond the arc vs. Tennessee.
The Noles have lost five of their last six to NC State, but defeated the Wolfpack last year, 91-72, behind 31 points from Ta'Niya Latson and 21 points from fifth-year guard Sara Bejedi. FSU is looking for its first win at Reynolds Coliseum since Feb. 25, 2016 (W, 56-52).
Junior forward Makayla Timpson is nearly halfway toward WNBA All-Star Natasha Howard's single-season record of 15 double-doubles. Timpson owns seven double-doubles this season, including back-to-back in ACC play vs. Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. Last year, Timpson tied for the second-most double-doubles in a season at FSU with 13.
FSU is 13th nationally and second in the ACC averaging 85.21 points per game. FSU averages 76.4 possessions per game. The Seminoles have gone 30-of-34 from the free throw line (88.2 percent) so far in ACC play this season.

Sophomore guard Ta'Niya Latson was named both the World Exposure Report National Player of the Week as well as the ACC Player of the Week after recording consecutive 30-point games last week in wins over Georgia Tech (95-80) and Wake Forest (73-61). Latson owns 10 career 30-point games in just 44 career games played. The FSU record is 11 career 30-point games by Sue Galkantas (1980-84), who reached that number in 92 career games.HER Week.
