Florida State Travels To Jacksonville For UNF Invitational

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team travels to Jacksonville for the UNF Invitational beginning Friday.
The tournament is comprised of eight draws in singles and doubles. The schools competing with the Seminoles are UNF, Charlotte, Furman, Indiana, Southern Miss, USF, UCF, Virginia Tech, and Florida.
The Seminoles are coming off recent success at the ITA Southeastern Championships in Atlanta.
Freshman Mary Boyce Deatherage earned two wins in her first tournament with the Seminoles at the ITA Southeastern Championships. Deatherage won 6-3, 6-2 over Sara Branicki of Georgia to advance to the main draw and followed that with a 6-0, 7-6(4) win over Laurie Barendse from UNF in the main draw round of 64.
Tina Li earned her first win as a Seminole as she teamed with Maelie Monfils for an 8-5 victory over Juliette Nask and Franziska Heinemann of Georgia State in the main draw round of 32. Monfils added a win in singles with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (7) win over Maraia Paula Vargas in the consolation round of 32.
Sophomore Cade Cricchio secured her first win of the 2024 fall season with a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5) win over Pragnya Kumar of Georgia State in the singles qualifying round of 32.
The UNF Invitational begins November 1st and runs through November 3rd. Coverage of the tournament will be provided on Seminoles.com.
