PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Florida State junior Alexis Durish won a gold medal in the NORCECA Punta Cana tournament in the Dominican Republic on Friday night. This marks her first career international gold medal.

Durish partnered with former Stanford standout Xolani Hodel and won four straight matches to claim their first international tournament title. The pair didn't drop a set throughout the tournament. Durish and Hodel previously paired together in the FISU World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in September.

The competition was nothing short of stiff for Durish and Hodel. The pair squared off against Cal Poly star Mariah Whalen and Texas national champion Molly Phillips in the semifinals on Thursday, winning the match 21-15, 21-17. In the finals, Durish and Hodel defeated Cal Poly standout Amy Ozee and Hawaii's Kaylee Glagau. The pair quickly defeated Ozee and Glagau, winning 21-7, 21-16 in a 35-minute-long matchup.

Durish will now return to Tallahassee for fall ball with the Seminoles. Florida State will open fall ball at home against LSU on October 18. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
