Clanton Named to Haskins Award Watch List

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State junior Luke Clanton was named to the 2024-25 Haskins Award presented by Stifel Final Fall Watch List on Tuesday.
Given by the Haskins Foundation, Clanton was one of 25 golfers on the list, and one of five from the ACC.
Beginning in 1971, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer as voted on by only college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media. Past winners of the Haskins Award presented by Stifel have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world. Named in honor of Fred Haskins, the award is managed by the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top male golfer at the end of the season and to match the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top female Division I collegiate golfer.
The 2024 McCormack Medal winner, Clanton claimed the top spot in the World Amateur Golf Ranking on Aug. 14 and has been ranked No. 1 since. This summer, Clanton was the first amateur to record consecutive top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour since 1958.
Clanton competed in three tournaments this fall for the Seminoles, securing three top 15 finishes. At the East Lake Cup, Clanton won two matches in match play, first defeating Jackson Koivun of Auburn, who is the No. 2 WAGR amateur and reigning Haskins Award winner, 3&2. Clanton later went on to dominate Jack Vojtko of Ohio State, 5&4.
In stroke play, Clanton finished 1-under par, tying for fourth place as the Seminoles finished tied for second at 7-under.
Clanton is expected to play in the RSM Classic at the Sea Island Golf Club in Saint Simons Island, Georgia, from Nov. 18-24. He is also one of 16 players invited to practice for the 2025 Walker Cup Match. The three days of practice will be held at the McArthur Golf Club, Seminole Golf Club and The Bear's Club in Jupiter, Florida, from Dec. 14-16.
