Vear Victorious on 3-Meter at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – Graduate student Samantha Vear earned a win in the 3-meter springboard event as the divers of the Florida State swimming and diving team continued competition at the Auburn Diving Invitational in Auburn, Alabama on Friday.
 
Vear was victorious on 3-meter and redshirt junior Kayleigh Clark added a third-place finish. It was both Vear and Clark's second individual top-three finish in as many events, as yesterday Clark won 1-meter and Vear was third.
 
Friday was the third day of the four-day competition at Auburn's James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
 
The win for Vear came with a final score of 329.70, more than 15 points higher than the second-place finisher. Clark earned 312.15 points to place third. Also in the 3-meter final, freshman Evelyn Hall was fifth with 283.05 points and senior Isabel Gregersen was 10th with a 262.10. Junior Cassidy Carder placed 17th overall (235.50).
 
The men concluded their weekend on Friday on platform. Fifth year Carlos Vargas paced the team with a fifth-place finish with 327.00 points in the final. Freshman Hayden Schroeder was just behind him in sixth with a score of 314.55, and freshman Noah Turner was eighth with 301.70 points.
 
The Auburn Invite will conclude on Saturday, December 21 with women's platform. Action begins with prelims at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT.

On Wednesday to begin the week, FSU's divers earned four top-six finishes, including runner-up showings in both the men's and women's team events.
 
On Thursday's second day, Clark won the 1-meter event while Vear was third. The men competed on 3-meter, with Schroeder pacing the team in fourth.
 
A total of 51 divers are set to compete in at least one event, a field that features athletes from host-Auburn, George Washington, Tennessee and Utah in addition to Florida State.
