No. 23 Florida State Faces Florida in Orlando

2/1/2024 9:27:00 AM | Men's Tennis

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 23 Florida State men's tennis team makes its annual trip down to Orlando for the opening match of 2024 College MatchDay against Florida.

The Seminoles will make their seventh appearance in the College MatchDay event since it was moved to the USTA National Campus in 2017. They will face Florida on Saturday at 5 p.m. and mark the 85th meeting between the two sides.

After sweeping a doubleheader on opening day, Florida State fell in their matchup at Mississippi State before capturing a stunning last-set thriller at Alabama. The Seminoles went back to Starkville, Mississippi, for ITA Kickoff Weekend, dropping a 4-3 decision to Arizona State before notching a strong victory over No. 12 Mississippi State 4-1.

Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc continued his brilliance with two singles victories over top-15 ranked players at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. He defeated No. 10 Murphy Cassone of Arizona State in a three-set battle before taking down No. 13 Petar Jovanovic twice in back-to-back weekends with identical straight-sets victories.

In addition, Youcef Rihane had an impressive weekend with two singles victories, freshman Azariah Rusher took his second different doubles pairing victory of the season, and Alex Bulte didn't drop a single set through his two match victories.
