Noles Begin Road Week at Wake Forest

TALLAHASSEE - Florida State Women's Basketball and Wake Forest play for a second time this season on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Seminoles (17-8, 8-5) took the first game at home earlier this year on Dec. 31, winning 73-61 behind Ta'Niya Latson's 30 points.

Thursday's game can be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

The Seminoles begin play on Thursday night solely in seventh in the ACC standings with an 8-5 conference record. With five regular-season games remaining, FSU is two games behind No. 18 Louisville for a coveted double-bye position and Top 4 seed. FSU has been able to secure a double bye for the ACC Tournament in six of the last nine seasons.

Latson added another honor to her immense list, being named to the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Midseason Team on Tuesday. She has already been selected to midseason and late season teams for the Wade Trophy, the Wooden Award and the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard award.

In conference play, Makayla Timpson leads the ACC in both field goal percentage (61 percent) and blocked shots (34; 2.62 per game). Through all games played, Timpson leads the next closest competitor in the ACC by 17 blocked shots. She is coming off six blocks in FSU's 98-94 double overtime loss to No. 12 Notre Dame on Sunday - the fourth time in her career she has amassed six blocks.

The Seminoles are two wins away from clinching a 10th consecutive winning season in ACC play. Since the 2014-15 year, Florida State has finished above .500 each year in the league, joining only Louisville among ACC teams to achieve the feat.

In FSU's 98-94 double overtime loss last game vs. No. 12 Notre Dame, Florida State recorded its second-most blocked shots in a game with 14. The performance fell just shy of its school-record 15 blocks vs. Alabama A&M on Dec. 19, 2011, but was its most in an ACC game.

FSU is one of 19 NCAA Division I programs averaging 80 points or more per game, ranking 11th with 81.5 points per game. The Seminoles are currently 38th in the latest NET, their second-best ranking of their season behind being No. 37 from Jan. 14-17.

Florida State is one of 26 teams nationally, and just two in the ACC (Virginia Tech), with 200 made 3-point field goals. FSU is on pace to break its record of 232 it set last year in what was the first season of the pace and space offense.

Wake Forest has its pink game on Thursday to raise breast cancer awareness. FSU head coach Brooke Wyckoff is currently undergoing light preventative treatment for breast cancer after having surgery to remove a cancerous mass on Oct. 31.
