Leiter Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE?- After a dominant Opening Day win against Butler, sophomore Cam Leiter was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week Monday afternoon. The Bayville, N.J., native struck out a career-high 13 batters and allowed just one hit over 5.0 innings in FSU's 11-0 victory.
Leiter struck out the side in the second, fourth and fifth innings. After the Bulldogs lone hit in the fourth inning put runners on first and second, Leiter struck out the next six batters, including three straight to strand a pair.
Leiter spearheaded a Florida State team that struck out 22 batters, the fourth-most in FSU history and the second-most in a nine-inning game. Leiter's 13 strikeouts are the most for a Seminole on Opening Day since 1956 and the most in an FSU debut since 1978.
Florida State hits the road for the first time this season for a mid-week matchup at John Sessions Stadium against Jacksonville (2-0) Tuesday night.

After a weekend sweep of Butler, the Noles look to stay in the win column with junior Conner Whittaker set to take the mound for FSU. Whittaker will be making his season debut Tuesday night, and his ninth career collegiate start overall. Whittaker finished the 2023 season with a 3.75 ERA.
Sophomore Drew Faurot looks to continue his hot streak at the plate for the Noles after hitting .500 over 10 at-bats in his Seminole debut.
James Tibbs III led FSU with six RBI against Butler, including an Opening Day grand slam. Catcher McGwire Holbrook was 3-for-3 with 5 RBI and a three-run home run in his season debut Sunday against the Bulldogs.
