TALLAHASSEE -Â Florida State Women's Basketball and Boston College meet for the 22nd time on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center. The Seminoles (19-8, 10-5) look to clinch their 10th 20-win season in their last 11 seasons, which excludes the 2020-21 COVID year when they played just 19 games.
Junior forward Makayla Timpson is searching for her sixth consecutive double-double on Thursday night. A double-double against the Eagles (11-16, 3-11) would tie for the longest streak in school history with former player Cherry Rivers (1978-79 season).
Timpson and fifth-year guard Sara Bejedi will each be recognized prior to Thursday's game after surpassing the 1,000-point marks in their careers. Both players reached the milestone in FSU's 71-63 win at Wake Forest last Thursday.
FSU enters Thursday's key game vs. Boston College winners of five of their last six. In that winning stretch, which began with a 78-67 victory over Georgia Tech on Jan. 28, the Noles have averaged 13.2 free throw attempts per game compared to opponent's 7.8 trips to the line.
The Seminoles are coming off a crucial 74-68 road win at Miami on Sunday, guided by Ta'Niya Latson's 29 points with 13 made field goals. Latson, just a sophomore, already has four games in her career with 13 or more made field goals.
FSU has clinched its 10th consecutive winning season in ACC play, showing a 10-5 conference record and in sole possession of fifth place in the ACC. Since the 2014-15 season, the Seminoles have had a winning conference record in each season.
Despite absorbing a 77-71 overtime loss last year at Boston College, Bejedi poured in a then-career high 26 points vs. the Eagles and started a stretch where she recorded three straight 20+ point games. This year, she earned national player of the week honors after scoring 23 points vs. UNC and 31 points against Virginia Tech in back-to-back games.
FSU is 5-2 this season vs. ACC opponents at home, averaging 83.3 points vs. league opponents at the Tuck.
