TALLAHASSEE - The No. 22 Florida State men's tennis team returns home Sunday for its opening match at Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center against Oklahoma.
The Seminoles will take on the Sooners at 1 p.m., marking their first meeting since the canceled 2020 season and ninth matchup in the series history. The match is FSU's designated whiteout contest and the first 50 fans will receive a free Florida State rally towel presented by Truist.
After starting the season 3-1, Florida State made a second trip to Starkville, Mississippi, for ITA Kickoff Weekend, dropping a 4-3 decision to Arizona State before notching a strong, 4-1 victory over No. 12 Mississippi State. The Seminoles then faced Florida at College MatchDay in Orlando and swept the Gators for the first time in series history.
Loris Pourroy and Youcef Rihane are coming off a clutch doubles performance against Florida, with the duo pulling away 7-2 in the tiebreaker to defeat the nation's No. 38 doubles pair and earn the Seminoles' first point of the match. Pourroy and Rihane were named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week, their first selection as a pair.
In addition, the first batch of ITA rankings were released Wednesday and saw the Seminoles climb upward. In singles, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc's perfect start to the season saw him rise to No. 8 while Jamie Connel remained in the top-100 at 90. In doubles, Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif checked in at No. 39 while the reigning ACC Doubles Team of the Week moved to No. 43.
