No. 13 Seminoles Fall to UNC

TALLAHASSEE –The No. 13 Florida State men's tennis team dropped a match at home for the first time in over a year, falling 4-2 to No. 27 North Carolina on Friday night.
The day began with the No. 14 pairing in the nation, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif, defeating their opponent from North Carolina in 6-3 fashion while Loris Pourroy and Youcef Rihane hung tough and grabbed the first point of the match 7-5.
Cornut-Chauvinc continued his spotless start to the season with his 10th straight-sets singles victory of the season, 7-5, 6-3. This marks his 13th win and eighth ranked win of the season.
After splitting the first sets, North Carolina took four of the six sets across the second frame and tied the match up with three matches remaining.
Rihane dropped the second set tiebreaker while Dous-Karpenschif and Pourroy lost in three sets. Alex Bulte lost the first set but looked to stage a comeback in the second. In a thrilling back-and-forth set tiebreaker, Bulte lost 12-10 in crushing fashion. Connel was tied 3-3 in the third set before the match was left unfinished.
Florida State is 13-3 on the season and had won 12 straight matches at home since a loss on February 12, 2023. The next match against No. 17 Duke on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. Admission is free to all home tennis matches.
