No. 4 Seminoles Split Day One of Center of Effort Tournament

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 4 Florida State beach volleyball team opened the Center of Effort Tournament in San Luis Obispo, California, by splitting two matches on Friday. The Seminoles now hold a 26-6 record in 2024 with one match left in the regular season.

The Noles opened play against No. 6 Cal Poly. The dual began with the Mustangs winning court one in two close sets, but the Noles fought back by claiming court four soon after. Kaeli Crews and Maddie Trusty won the court 2-0 in a match that was highlighted by an exciting second set that the Noles won 26-24. Raelyn White and Audrey Koenig won a three-set thriller on court three, 20-22, 21-12, 15-13 to give the Noles a one-point advantage. Cal Poly tied the match by winning court five. Maddie Anderson and Alli Hansen put on a gutsy performance and earned the winning point on court one, 21-18, 19-21, 16-14.

Florida State closed the day against No. 1 UCLA. Despite a hard fight, the Seminoles came up short and fell 3-2 to the Bruins. White and Koenig won out on court three, claiming the point in just two sets. Makenna Wolfe and Kaileigh Truslow then earned the Seminoles' other point on court four, 21-19, 21-18.

The Seminoles close the tournament and regular season Saturday afternoon when they play No. 10 LMU at 3:45 p.m. Eastern Time. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
