FSU Travels To North Carolina For ACC Championships

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 3 seed Florida State women's tennis team travels to Cary, North Carolina, for the ACC Championships and will open play in the quarterfinal round Friday.
Florida State finished the regular season with a 15-7 record, which included a 9-4 record in the ACC, to earn the double-bye into the quarterfinal round.
Senior Ellie Schoppe is coming off a 6-0, 7-6 (3) victory over the No. 25 national singles player Hibah Shaikh of Virginia. The 33rd-ranked Schoppe finished the spring with 15 singles victories, which included a 13-0 record at No. 2. Schoppe is also ranked 79th in doubles with freshman Maelie Monfils.
Anna Arkadianou concluded the regular season with a 6-3, 6-3 win against the 76th-ranked Sara Ziodato. Arkadianou earned 15 singles victories this spring and is ranked 67th in doubles with Vic Allen.
Allen had a specular regular season as she totaled 25 victories and is ranked No. 28 in singles and No. 27 in doubles with sophomore Millie Bissett.
Sophomore Kristyna Lavickova has been a staple at No. 5 singles as she has earned 11 victories and is currently on a nine-game win streak.
No. 11 Virginia Tech and No. 14 Louisville begin play in the first round on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The winner will face No. 6 Miami in the second round at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, and Florida State will face the winner of Thursday's match at 6 p.m. Friday.
