CARY, N.C. –The No. 17 Florida State men's tennis team swept No. 11 NC State in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Championship on Friday afternoon. The Seminoles return to the semifinals in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2008-2009.

"The doubles point was really important today but we didn't just settle into singles but instead pounced on the opportunity," head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. "Youcef (Rihane) came out on fire and smacked several winners from all over the court and came up with some huge returns on break points."

The day began with an enthralling doubles match as Loris Pourroy and Youcef Rihane continued their red-hot form with a dominant 6-2 win on Court 2 to earn a third straight victory. After NC State took the match on Court 3, Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif won three straight games to earn the doubles point.

The tone was set in the doubles round and continued into singles as the Seminoles won five first sets and completed one of their most dominant performances this season.

Rihane continued his excellent run of form as he blanked his opponent in the first set. The junior opened his match winning nine straight games and finished with a 6-4 second set to earn the straight-sets win.

Within a matter of seconds, Jamie Connel completed his 6-2, 6-3 straight-sets win on Court 3 for his seventh win in the last eight while the No. 5 player in the nation, Cornut-Chauvinc, clinched the final point of the match for his 21st win of the season and punched FSU's ticket to the semifinal round of the ACC Tournament.

The Seminoles dropped just one singles set the entire match. Pourroy, Dous-Karpenschif, and Bulte's matches were left unfinished.

Florida State continues its journey in the ACC Championship with a semifinal round match with No. 2 seed Wake Forest on Saturday at 10 a.m. Live video and stats will be available on Seminoles.com
