No. 15 Seminoles Host Top-20 Opponents in Final Homestand

TALLAHASSEE - The No. 15 Florida State men's tennis team hosts its final homestand of the regular season with conference opponents No. 6 Wake Forest and No. 20 NC State this weekend.
The Seminoles will face Wake Forest at 5:30 p.m. Friday before their Senior Day match against NC State on Sunday at 1 p.m. FSU is undefeated at home against NC State and leads the all-time series 27-6. Prior to Sunday's match FSU will hold a Senior Day ceremony recognizing Loris Pourroy, Richie Thongoana, and Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc.
Florida State is 16-5 on the season, including 6-3 at home. The Seminoles are currently 6-3 in ACC play with five conference road victories. FSU has nine wins against teams currently ranked, highlighted by victories over No. 11 Oklahoma, No. 14 Mississippi State, and No. 23 Alabama.
Cornut-Chauvinc took another ranked singles win with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 straight-sets victory over Clemson on Court 1. The top-ranked player in the ACC, Cornut-Chauvinc holds a 17-1 record with 13 ranked victories. In doubles, Pourroy and Youcef Rihane dealt a powerful stroke of momentum when they rallied from down 5-4 and took three straight games to snatch the doubles point at 7-5 for their fourth conference win of the season.
The newest ITA rankings were released Tuesday. Cornut-Chauvinc rose to the No. 2 player in the nation for the first time all season while he and Joshua Dous-Karpenschif checked in at No. 33 in doubles. Florida State remained at No. 15 to mark five straight weeks in the top-15 of the team rankings.
