TALLAHASSEE – Florida State was named the No. 8 national seed for the NCAA Tournament Monday afternoon and will host 2-seed Alabama, 3-seed UCF and 4-seed Stetson in the Tallahassee Regional.
Florida State will face Stetson Friday at 12:00 p.m. on ACC Network. UCF and Alabama will play Friday night at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Seminoles enter the tournament 42-15 after reaching the ACC Championship Game. Florida State has had the largest turnaround in the country from a season ago, winning 19 more games than 2023. James Tibbs III was named the ACC Player of the Year and was joined by starting pitcher Jamie Arnold on the All-ACC first team.
Florida State is one of five regional hosts from the ACC. FSU last hosted a regional in 2018.
FSU will open Friday against Stetson (40-20), the automatic bid after winning the ASUN Championship Sunday afternoon. Florida State and Stetson split a pair of games in 2024, with FSU beating the Hatters 1-0 in mid-March and Stetson winning the rematch two months later in DeLand. The Noles are 3-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament against the Hatters.
Two-seed Alabama went 33-22 and earned an at-large berth out of the SEC. Alabama and FSU did not share any common opponents in 2024.
The Crimson Tide and Seminoles have met seven times in the postseason, with FSU sporting a 5-2 advantage.
In its first season under former Florida State assistant coach Rich Wallace, UCF earned an at-large berth out of the Big 12 with a 35-19 overall record and 2-1 record in the Big 12 Tournament. The Knights and Seminoles did not match up in the regular season but have played nine times in the NCAA Tournament, with FSU leading 7-2.
The winner of the Tallahassee Regional will host the winner of the Norman Regional, featuring No. 9 national seed Oklahoma, ACC Champion Duke, UConn and Oral Roberts. If Florida State advances out of the Tallahassee Regional, it will host the Super Regional.
