Robinson Wins Gold at Junior Pan Pacific Championships

TALLAHASSEE –  Florida State men's swimming and diving freshman Logan Robinson won the gold medal at the 2024 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in the men's 200 fly behind a new personal best of 1:57.27.  
 
As the top seeded swimmer in the event, Robinson finished fourth in prelims with a time of 1:59.57.  In finals, Robinson built a big lead in the front half of the race and finished strong to edge out the top swimmer from Japan (1:57.83).
 
"I was just thinking that I had to represent the USA well," Robinson said. "I told all my teammates that I was going to get a gold, and I told all my family that I was going to get a gold, so I wanted to honor my word."
 
Robinson turned in the sixth-fastest time in prelims in the 100 fly, touching with a time of 53.87.  At night, he swam in the consolation final, winning the heat at 53.68, setting a new personal best.  Robinson also competed in the consolation final of the 200 IM, finishing 13th at 2:08.26 after posting 2:07.87 in prelims.
 
A native of Pensacola, Florida, Robinson was the 2023 FHSAA 3A state champion in the 100 fly (47.18) and 200 free (1:36.72). 
 
While representing Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club, Robinson was a seven-time finalist at the 2024 NCSA Spring Championship finalist. He was also a two-time finalist at the Speedo Junior National Championships in 2023 where he finished fifth in the 200 free (1:50.62) and sixth in the 200 fly (2:00.04).
