FSU Opens Fall Ball vs. Mississippi State

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Florida State baseball team opened its fall slate on Saturday against Mississippi State in Pensacola, Florida.
In a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Tallahassee Regional Final, FSU and MSU played a 14-inning exhibition game in front of a sellout crowd of 5,038 fans at Blue Wahoos Stadium. It marked the second consecutive year the Seminoles began the fall at the Miami Marlins' Double-A affiliate's home ballpark.
Redshirt senior Eli Putnam homered and had two hits with two runs scored in four at-bats in his first game in the Garnet and Gold. Freshman Kelvyn Paulino Jr., making his collegiate debut, had two RBI singles in three at-bats, driving in both runs with two outs. Sophomore Jace Estes also had a pair of RBI on one hit, while fellow sophomore Noah Sheffield had two hits in three at-bats with an RBI.
On the mound, junior left-hander Trey Beard and junior righty Brodie Purcell each pitched 2.0 scoreless innings. Both making their FSU debuts, Beard held MSU to one hit with a strikeout and Purcell did not allow a hit while fanning two. Four more Seminole pitchers each threw 1.0 inning of shutout ball.
Saturday's game is the first of three exhibition events as part of Florida State's 2025 Fall Ball, presented by GEICO. FSU will host UAB on Saturday, October 25, at 12 p.m. ET, before the Garnet & Gold All-Star Game on Friday, October 31 at 6:30 p.m. Fan Day will be held following the UAB game, while the Garnet & Gold All-Star Game will conclude with a Home Run Derby.
Tickets are on sale for both fall home events at Dick Howser Stadium, and tickets can be purchased at Seminoles.com/Tickets. Tickets for the UAB game are $10 and the tickets for the Garnet & Gold All-Star Game are $7. All seats are general admission, and all tickets will be via mobile delivery. Gates to Dick Howser Stadium will open one hour prior to first pitch for both games.
