TALLAHASSEE – Florida State Athletics posted a 65% Federal Graduation Rate (FGR), tying the program-record score, and the Seminole football and baseball programs recorded their highest scores ever in data released by the NCAA on Wednesday.
"We are extremely proud to report a 65-percent Federal Graduation Rate, tying the highest in our program's history, and a 91-percent Graduation Success Rate," Florida State Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said. "These numbers reflect our commitment not only to championships on the field but also to achievement in the classroom and beyond. This marks the second straight year we have matched our all-time high Federal Graduation Rate."
The FGR and NCAA GSR scores released Tuesday examine a 4-class average freshman cohort that entered school in 2015-16 through 2018-19. Florida State's overall FGR matched the 65% from the previous year for student-athletes and tied the high mark set with the 2009 class. The Seminoles' record 91% GSR score topped last year's 89% that was the previous record.
Men's basketball's 100% GSR score gives the program five consecutive years of perfect scores. Women's golf posted its 16th consecutive year with a perfect score, and volleyball achieved a perfect 100% for the 14th straight report. Women's swimming and women's tennis each reached 100% for a fifth straight year. Women's basketball and softball also achieved 100% GSR scores.
Football's record 84% GSR topped the previous high of 77% set last year, and baseball recorded its record 90% GSR for the second straight year.
"Our record-high GSR continues an upward trend driven by intentional investment in academic services," Alford said. "Football and baseball recording their highest scores ever speaks to the culture our coaches have built, grounded in development, discipline and long-term success. Overall, this demonstrates years of consistent work from our student-athletes, faculty, advisors and support staff. Academics remain a core priority at Florida State. Graduation is not a benchmark – it's a part of our identity. We're proud of this progress, but we're not done. We will continue investing in student-athlete success, so these numbers will keep rising."
A total of seven Florida State sports improved their GSR score from the last cohort.
