GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Florida State women's basketball (3-3) team fell to Florida (5-1) by a score of 89-67 on Thursday night at Exactech Arena.

Junior center Pania Davis had a career night as three Seminoles scored in double figures. Davis posted 19 points and was just shy of a double-double, adding a team-high nine rebounds. She also tied her career-high in blocks with three blocks.

Junior guard Solè Williams followed with 15 points and sank three of the team's five total triples, while graduate forward Allie Kubek added 11 points.

Senior guard Sydney Bowles set a new career-high in assists with seven, besting her previous total of six earned against Georgia Tech last season on Feb. 23. She added a block and two steals.

A strong effort from Davis provided initial momentum for the Seminoles in the first quarter. The center accounted for six points on offense and contributed three rebounds, a steal and a block on the defensive end. Florida led 23-16 at the end of the first 10 minutes.

A three from Williams and a great look under the basket by junior forward Avery Treadwell started the second quarter off smoothly. The Seminoles built momentum and dominated in transition, encouraging a 15-4 run over the final four minutes of the half. Kubek led the effort with seven points from all over the floor, sinking a 3-pointer, a layup and two made free throws.

Florida led 41-34 at halftime with Florida State shooting 47 percent from the floor to Florida's 44 percent. Kubek and Davis highlighted the scoring with nine points each. Davis continued to shine on defense, leading the team with five defensive rebounds as well as two blocks and two steals.

Davis would add a jumper and four points from the free-throw line in the third quarter. The Gators led 62-45 going into the final 10 minutes of play.

Williams led the scoring in the fourth quarter with eight points thanks to two threes. Junior guard Emma Risch added a three herself and trailed with five points.

The Seminoles return to the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center on Sunday, Nov. 23 to host Illinois for their annual Seminole Heritage game. The game will air on the ACC Network Extra (ACCNX).
