2/13/2025 9:40:00 AM | Baseball

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State baseball juniors Jamie Arnold and Alex Lodise have been selected as the team's captains, head coach Link Jarrett announced.

Arnold, a left-handed pitcher from Tampa, Florida, is in his third season with the Seminoles, while Lodise, an infielder from St. Augustine, Florida, is in his second season wearing the Garnet and Gold.

"This is a fantastic honor for Jamie and Alex," Jarrett said. "Clearly the players feel they both stand out in representing what they want our program to embody. I believe we have a locker room full of high character guys, and it is quite the tribute to be chosen by your peers, especially knowing the makeup of this group."

Arnold and Lodise return in 2025 after being key contributors to a 2024 FSU team that advanced to the national semifinal at the College World Series.

A Preseason National Pitcher of the Year honoree this season, Arnold went 11-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 19 appearances with 18 starts in 2024. He allowed 35 earned runs on 90 hits with 159 strikeouts and a .224 opponents batting average. Arnold was recognized as a First Team All-American and National Pitcher of the Year finalist.

Lodise started all 62 games he appeared in a year ago, all at shortstop, and hit .281 with 61 hits and 44 RBI. He hit nine home runs with 14 doubles and walked 19 times. Lodise led the team with 134 assists. He was recognized with All-ACC Academic Team and ACC Academic Honor Roll accolades.

Arnold, Lodise and the No. 9-ranked Seminoles begin the 2025 season this weekend against James Madison at Dick Howser Stadium. Opening Day is on Friday, February 14, at 5 p.m. ET, followed by the season's second game on Saturday at 2 p.m. The series finale is set for Sunday at 12 p.m. Tickets are available for all three games at Seminoles.com/Tickets. All three games will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
