TALLAHASSEE – Florida State is the first collegiate program to partner with MIKASA, making the 108-year-old company the exclusive equipment supplier of Florida State beach volleyball.

"We are so excited to partner with Mikasa," Florida State head coach Brooke Niles said. "It's one of the premier balls in the world and the ball used for FIVB and Olympic competitions. Training and playing with this ball will help our skill development and provide a competitive advantage to our athletes."

"We are thrilled to partner with Florida State University Women's Beach Volleyball program and supply the official ball for the Seminoles," said Shigeru Nakayama, CEO of Mikasa USA. "The MIKASA BV550C (Beach Pro) is the same elite ball used by top beach volleyball professionals on the FIVB Beach Pro Tour, and we are proud to support FSU's continued excellence on the sand with the highest-quality equipment available."

Mikasa is the leader in sports balls that prides themselves on passion and desire to provide the highest quality equipment for a variety of sports including rugby, soccer, water polo, basketball, and others, with volleyball serving as the establishment of the company. Since 1973, Mikasa has continued to develop the latest technology in the most important part of the game—the ball.

Florida State beach volleyball begins the season February 21 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and will host home tournaments February 28-March 1 and April 4-5. Niles enters her 10th season at Florida State as the NCAA's all-time wins leader.
