Seminoles Victorious in Conference Opener

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State women's tennis team (10-1, 1-0 ACC) defeated Boston College (4-8, 0-3) 4-1 on Friday afternoon at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Florida State has now won eight consecutive matches, tied for the second-longest streak in school history. 

FSU found itself down on the doubles courts early. No. 86-ranked Eva Shaw and Maria Juliana Parra Romero began their match down 2-1 before rallying back to win the next five games, defeating Tola Glowacka and Alex Torre 6-2 on Court 1. Millie Bissett and Laura Putz were down 4-3 and went on to win their next three games, defeating Seren Agar and Natalie Eordekian 6-4,  and clinching the doubles point for Florida State. Maelie Monfils and Tina Li wrapped up the doubles session on Court 3, defeating Olivia Benton and Nadia Dimovska 6-3. 

Bissett captured the first singles point for FSU, defeating Eordekian 6-2, 6-0 on Court 2. Parra Romero earned a straight-sets victory on Court 4, defeating Muskan Mahajan 6-4, 6-1. After Boston College earned a victory on Court 3, Eva Shaw claimed a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win in a three-set thriller to clinch the match for the Noles on Court 1. 

Parra Romero continues to climb the FSU all-time ladder for consecutive doubles matches won. Her win marks 10 straight doubles victories, placing her tied for eighth in FSU history. Parra Romero and Shaw improved to 8-0 on the year, and the Seminoles as a team have won the doubles point in all 11 matches.

Florida State continues ACC play on Sunday for a match at No. 45 Syracuse. The match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. in Syracuse, New York, at the Drumlins Country Club. Live stats for the match can be found at Seminoles.com.
