Watkins Leads Seminoles; Florida State Falls at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke's Isaiah Evans scored 19 points and led the No. 2 Blue Devils to a 100-65 win over the Seminoles at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Evans, Cooper Flagg (16 points), Khaman Maluach (14 points), and Kon Knueppel (14 points) led the Blue Devils to their sixth consecutive victory.
Florida State is now 16-13 overall and 7-11 in ACC play. Duke is now 26-3 and 17-1 in ACC play.
Jamir Watkins led the Seminoles with an impressive performance on both ends of the court, scoring a game high 21 points on eight of 18 shooting from the field. He earned a team-high eight rebounds and three assists. Watkins has now scored 20+ points in three consecutive games, has scored in double figures in eight straight and 24 of his last 25 games -- a streak dating back to November 15 against Florida.
Watkins made one shot from the 3-point line and has now made at least one 3-point shot in 19 consecutive games – a steak which began on December 14 against Tulane.
Jerry Deng was the second Seminole in double-figure scoring with 12 points. He led the Seminoles with three 3-point shots made. Deng has now scored in double-figures in consecutive games for the first time in his Florida State career after totaling 16 against North Carolina on Monday.
Daquan Davis scored eight points on two of four shooting from the field and was a perfect four of four from the free throw line. The freshman has now made 11 consecutive free throws dating to the Seminoles' game at Louisville.
Led by Davis's perfect night from the free throw line, the Seminoles made 14 of 17 free throws for a .824 percent success rate from the line.
The Blue Devils and head coach John Scheyer honored Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton in a pre-game ceremony.
"I was honored to compete against Coach Hamilton all of these years," said Duke head coach Scheyer. "For me, as a player, an assistant coach and a head coach, I've never known anything else about Florida State. You always know with his teams the challenges they are going to present. I'm really proud of this win."
Florida State plays its final road game of the regular season as it travels to play at Virginia on Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. The Seminoles' game against the Cavaliers will be televised on the ACC Network.
