TALLAHASSEE – Florida State junior Luke Clanton was one of 20 golfers named to the 2024-25 Fred Haskins Award First Spring Watch List on Monday.
As the top-ranked amateur in the world, Clanton won the Watersound Invitational in his first start in 2025, after shooting 73, 66 and 67 to finish 10-under par. Clanton led the Noles to the team title at the Shark's Tooth Golf Course. He was named the ACC Golfer of the Month following his performance.
Clanton also finished fourth at the East Lake Cup and went 2-0 in match play to close out 2024, defeating the No. 2 WAGR player in Jackson Koivun of Auburn, 3&2.
In four 2025 PGA TOUR starts, Clanton has made the cut twice, finishing in the top 25 at the Farmers Insurance Open and in the Cognizant Classic.
Beginning in 1971, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer as voted on by only college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media. Past winners of the Haskins Award presented by Stifel have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournaments around the world. Named in honor of Fred Haskins, the award is managed by the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top male golfer at the end of the season and to match the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top female Division I collegiate golfer.
The next list will be released on Monday, April 14th and will be reduced to 15 players. The Final 2024-2025 Haskins Award Watch List will be released on Friday, May 16th and voting will open for the 10 players that are included on the list.
The 20th-ranked Seminoles are hosting the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville, Georgia from March 10-11.
