FSU Volleyball Signs Former Sun Belt Libero of the Year Mio Yamamoto

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State volleyball program has signed a Sun Belt Conference star in the 5-5 libero Mio Yamamoto. Yamamoto began her career at the New Mexico Military Institute and competed for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns over the past two seasons.
  
The Chigasaki, Japan, native had a breakout season with Louisiana in 2023, earning All-Sun Belt First Team and Sun Belt Libero of the Year. Yamamoto recorded an impressive 481 digs, leading the Sun Belt in total digs in conference matches. She also notched 119 assists and 27 aces.
 
Yamamoto's 2024 season came with more success. She brought her total career digs with Louisiana to 959, adding 478 with 134 assists in her senior campaign. She recorded 20 or more digs in 13 matches her senior season, closing her time with the Cajuns as the All-Louisiana Libero of the Year and All-Sun Belt First Team.
 
Previously at the New Mexico Military Institute, Yamamoto's first two seasons propelled her to the collegiate volleyball spotlight.  She was named a NJCAA All-American twice, won NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Week twice, and received All-American honors after hauling the second-most digs in the country in 2021.
 
Yamamoto played for Seisa Kokusai High School in Japan.
