TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State men's tennis team will welcome six different schools to Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center this weekend for the 2025 Bedford Cup. Competition will begin on Friday at 9:00 a.m. with the Round of 32 and 16 main singles draw and 16-round single consolations.
The Seminoles will have five players this weekend: Jan Sebesta, Mohammaed Alkotop, Justin Lyons, Azariah Rusher and Oren Ezerzer.
Last year, the Seminoles traveled to the 2024 Bedford Cup hosted by the University of Florida, where Rusher, Sebesta, and Lyons all earned victories in the singles tournament. Lyons outclassed Florida Gulf Coast senior Guglielmo Stefanacci in the first round, dropping just three games in the entire match.
Rusher began the tournament as a seeded player and qualified for a first-round bye. He navigated through a tight second record match that saw him win a 6-3 first set before dropping the following frame by the same margin. Rusher outlasted Stetson senior Lucas Olivier in the final, 7-5, and booked his spot in the quarterfinals.
