Seminoles Gear Up for Clemson Orange and Purple Invitational

TALLAHASSEE The Florida State track and field teams will continue its strong start to the indoor season in Clemson, South Carolina, at the Orange and Purple Invitational on January 23. The meet will be held at Clemson University Indoor Track, with the women's long jump starting at 1:00 p.m.

The Seminoles will have several top performers in action this weekend, including Neo Mosebi, who captured his first gold medal in the men's outdoor 4x100-meter relay before winning the men's 100 at the ACC Outdoor Championships last season. Tyson Williams will also make his final collegiate debut in the men's 60 hurdles after finishing second alongside teammate Andre Korbmacher, who took home the title at last year's indoor conference championship.

Kaelyaah Liburd will open her junior season in the women's 400, alongside Takiyah Ferguson and Alyia Green. Liburd holds the British Virgin Islands National record (51.43) in the women's outdoor 400 and the second-fastest time in program history for the indoor 400 (52.60).

The Florida State track and field teams closed out the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday at the Alachua County Sports and Event Center, highlighted by five top-10 performances and four event wins.

Nafy Thiam and Shenese Walker were named ACC Performers of the Week for their efforts. Thiam was named the Rookie of the Week to become the first person in program history to receive the award on the women's side, while Walker earned the Track Performer of the Week.

True freshman Thiam wasted no time putting her name into multiple record books over the weekend after placing second overall in the women's shotput with the second-farthest throw in program history at 16.62-meters. Thiam also placed first among all conference opponents in the event, while setting a new U20 Belgium National record on her second attempt in the event. Her mark ranks first in the ACC and 12th in the nation.

Walker opened her final collegiate season with a win in the women's 200 with a new personal-best and the fifth-fastest time in program history at 23.15. Walker's time stands first in the ACC and third in the nation.

Sophomore Zianna Curtis kicked off the meet in the women's weight throw, tossing a personal best and eighth-farthest throw in program history at 17.74m.

After coming off an appearance at the NCAA Cross Country National Championship, Bieke Schipperen led the women's distance in the one mile after claiming the top spot with a time of 4.40.97. Suus Altorf led the women's 3,000 with a new facility record with a personal best and fourth-fastest time in FSU history at 9:03.31.

Green moved up on the FSU all-time list in the women's 400, after crossing the line first with a personal best and the seventh-fastest time in program history at 53.20.
