TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State volleyball team (6-6, 1-1 ACC) returns home this weekend to host NC State (10-3, 1-1) and Wake Forest (6-7, 0-2) as part of Florida State Volleyball Alumni Weekend. The two-match weekend also begins a five-match homestand for the Seminoles.
Friday's 6 p.m. matchup against NC State will serve as Florida State's annual Paint It Pink match. The Seminoles are 52-9 all-time against the Wolfpack, including a 31-3 record in Tallahassee. FSU has won six of the last eight meetings between the two teams.
Florida State will close out the weekend Sunday at 1 p.m. against Wake Forest. The Seminoles hold a 42-7 all-time record against the Demon Deacons and are 20-3 against Wake Forest in Tully Gymnasium. FSU has won 19 consecutive matches against the Demon Deacons after a 3-2 victory last season in Winston-Salem.
Senior outside hitter Kyleene Filimaua continues to pace the Seminoles offensively, leading the team in points (220.5), kills (186), digs (127) and aces (22).
Filimaua recorded a double-double in each meeting against NC State and Wake Forest last season, including a 20-kill performance against the Wolfpack. She enters the weekend coming off a 19-kill performance at Miami where she posted a .421 hitting percentage, her third-highest mark of the season.
Junior middle blocker Delaney Ewing, who ranks fourth on the team with 97 kills, will look to continue her strong play at the net against the Wolfpack. Ewing made her presence felt in last season's matchup with NC State, setting a career high with 27 attacks while finishing with 10 kills and eight blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Lexie Mason will also look to make an impact against Wake Forest after a standout performance in last season's meeting. Mason recorded a career-high 14 kills in Florida State's victory over the Demon Deacons.
Both matches will be broadcast live on ACCNX, with live stats available on Seminoles.com.
