TALLAHASSEE –The Florida State cross country teams are set for their final tune-up ahead of the ACC Championships, traveling to Terra Haute, Indiana, for the Pre-Nationals Invitational at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course on Friday.
Competition will begin with the women's 6k race at 10:00 a.m. ET, followed by the men's 8k at 10:40 a.m. Runnerspace will provide the stream, while fans can find live results at pttiming.com.
The pre-nationals offer teams an opportunity to preview the course for the 2026 NCAA Championships, as Indiana will serve as the host site for this year's national meet set for Saturday, November 21.
The women's race features seven nationally ranked teams, led by No. 1 NC State and No. 2 BYU. The field also includes No. 7 Duke, No. 19 North Carolina, No. 23 Clemson, No. 29 Boston University and No. 30 Boston College. The men's race will feature a similarly competitive field, with No. 8 Syracuse, No. 14 Villanova, No. 15 Notre Dame, No. 20 Iowa State, No. 26 Arizona and Utah Valley, and No. 29 North Carolina.
The women's team has recorded two consecutive top-10 finishes at pre-nationals over the past two years. Most recently, head coach Cody Halsey guided the Seminoles to a fifth-place finish with 255 points in Columbia last season, marking the highest pre-nationals finish of her tenure.
Rylee Blade, who will embark on her second pre-national meet, led the way for third straight meet after placing 14th and the fourth-fastest freshman out of 329 student-athletes. Bieke Schipperen finished in 17th with a career-best 19:56.1.
Other Seminoles that will join Blade and Schipperen in Indiana this year include Nicole Dinan, Lindy White and Bella Griener. Freshmen Madie King and Tessa Eberts will participate in their first career pre-national invitational.
The men's lineup will feature Isaac Hirshman Chandler, who recorded the highest individual finish by a male runner in program history at last year's pre-national invitational. Hudson Betts will join Hirshman Chandler alongside Alan Gallardo-Lopez, Josh Hicks, Kaden Levings, Graham Myers, Aidan Ryan and Finn Thomas.
At the team's most recent meet, the FSU XC Invite on Oct. 9, Josh Hicks recorded the highest finish by a true freshman at a home meet since 2020, placing third to help the Seminoles secure a third place team finish. On the women's side, Ella Menke led the way with a career best fourth place finish.
