TALLAHASSEE – The No.23/RV Florida State swimming and diving teams won all four duals at the All Florida Invite on Friday at the Morcom Aquatics Center.
The women (3-0) won 188-71 against West Florida, 179-81 against North Florida, and 217-24 against Thomas University. The men (1-0) won 167-40 against Thomas University.
"It was really a great day, it's always a fun meet for us. Our athletes get to do some different events and we saw some really good sparks in some areas that might help us out," head coach Neal Studd reflected on the competition.
Andrew Rich set a personal best in the men's 100 free (43.47), and notched a second win in the 50 free (19.91).
"I'm pretty happy with today. Been out most of the week with an injury, and those events I don't really do normally, so I was just trying to put my head down and stay positive," Rich said.
Amelia Marek set a personal best in the women's 50 free (23.13), in addition to a win in the 100 fly (53.67).
"I didn't really have any expectations coming in today, but surprisingly I won 50 free. And 100 fly is just what I do," Marek said.
In total, the women won 12 out of 16 events, while the men won all 12 out of 12.
On the diving boards, Maxwell Shaver (340.20) and Evelyn Hall (279.98) won the men's and women's 1-meter, while Jack Bessire (379.50) and Brooklyn Markusson (298.58) won the 3-meter events.
Next, the Noles will head to South Carolina on Nov. 6, before the Georgia Invite which will run Nov. 19-21 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium. The next FSU home meet will be on Jan. 5 vs. Villanova.
