Florida State shot 291 (+3), climbing five spots Sunday to claim another top five finish

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The No. 17 Florida State women's golf team closed its fall season with a strong final-round performance, climbing five spots to finish fourth at Landfall Tradition on Sunday at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course.

The Seminoles carded a three-over-par 291, the second-best team round of the tournament in round three, to finish at 22-over 886 (295-300-291). Battling another day of windy conditions, Florida State outperformed a course that played to a scoring average of 76.94 in the final round.

Haruhi Nakatani led the Seminoles on Sunday with a one-under-par 71. The sophomore, ranked No. 23 nationally, was one of only three players in the 96-player field to finish under par in the final round. Nakatani recorded four birdies, including one on her closing hole, the par-5 sixth, to secure her third top 10 finish of the fall. She finished tied for ninth.

Alexandra Gazzoli earned Florida State's best individual finish, tying for fifth at one-over-par 217 for the tournament. The junior carded a one-over 73 in the final round to complete a consistent week and secure the second top five finish of her collegiate career.

Freshman Louise Landgraf made one of the biggest moves on the individual leaderboard, climbing 28 spots to tie for 26th. Landgraf nearly recorded her second bogey-free round of the season, finishing with 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey for an even-par 72. It was her best round of the tournament after opening with rounds of 75 and 77.

Junior Sophia Fullbrook and freshman Kayla Bryant each carded three-over-par rounds of 75 to round out Florida State's scoring.

No. 6 Duke led the tournament from start to finish, winning by eight strokes over No. 1 Wake Forest and No. 7 South Carolina, which tied for second.

Florida State recorded 14 victories during the tournament, including three against top 25 opponents: No. 2 Auburn, No. 19 Alabama and No. 25 Kentucky.

The Seminoles wrapped up the fall with a 38-9-0 head-to-head record and a top five finish in all four tournaments. Florida State opened the season with a victory at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, finished fifth at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, placed third at the Schooner Fall Classic, and closed the fall in fourth at the Landfall Tradition.

Florida State will return to competition Jan. 29-30 at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico, to open its spring slate.
