TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State beach volleyball team travels to Manhattan Beach, California, this weekend to compete in the Sand Court Experts West Coast Championship. The Seminoles were also scheduled to compete in the AVCA East Bid Tournament in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, but the event was canceled due to the incoming Hurricane Isaias.
The West Coast Championship begins Friday, October 9, and runs through Sunday, October 11. The Seminoles will face pairs from eight schools that finished in the AVCA Top 10 last season, including No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Stanford, which defeated the Seminoles in the NCAA semifinals.
Pool play begins Friday, with each pair competing in two to three matches. Saturday will feature modified pool play based on Friday's results, followed by the first round of single-elimination playoffs. Each pair will compete in another two to three matches before the tournament concludes Sunday with all remaining pairs advancing into a single-elimination bracket.
The Seminoles will have pairs competing in Pools 2, 8, 10 and 12. Sophomores Saofé Duval and Julia Tennoy will compete in Pool 2. Duval finished her standout debut season with a 20-6 record alongside senior Kyleene Filimaua. The duo contributed to the Seminoles' NCAA quarterfinal victory over No. 4 USC, earning a 21-19, 21-17 win on Court 5 to help Florida State secure a 3-0 sweep.
Seniors Jordan Boulware and Rachel Heilbrun will compete in Pool 8.
Pool 10 features junior Gella Andrew and freshman Addison Junk. Andrew finished her sophomore season with a 28-5 record, including 20 dominant wins on Court 2.
Freshman Avery Junk and senior Myriah Massey will compete in Pool 12. Massey finished the 2026 season with a 27-4 record, including 22 wins alongside junior Bailey Higgins on Court 4.
With a strong field featuring some of the nation's top programs, the West Coast Championship will allow the Seminoles to compete against high-level competition and continue building momentum heading into the remainder of the fall season.
