TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State women's basketball team continues its five game homestand on Thursday morning, by welcoming North Florida at 11 a.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. Kids from Leon County schools will be in attendance for the annual Education Day.
Â
The Seminoles (1-0) will meet the Ospreys (0-0) for the 13th time in program history. FSU owns a 12-0-winning streak over UNF after a victory in November of 2024, where the Noles set the program scoring record at 119 points.
Â
On Monday, FSU opened the regular season with an 81-51 victory over Merrimack College. Five Seminoles finished in double figures, with freshman guard Morgan Stewart leading all scorers with 13 points. Stewart also recorded four steals and three assists, as well as three rebounds.
Junior guard Tatum Greene and senior guard Sole Williams each recorded 11 points, each recording five field goals and a three. Greene tied her career best in steals with four and added five rebounds, an assist and a block. Freshman forward Missy Odom and fifth year guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey notched 10 points apiece.
Â
Odom, who got the start against the Warriors, became the first true freshman forward to join the starting five in a season opener since Valencia Myers got the nod against Troy on Nov. 6, 2018. Other rookie notables include Natasha Howard's start against Alabama State on Nov. 12, 2010, and Ivery Slaughter's start in the opener against UNC-Greensboro on Nov. 8, 2013. Â
Â
As a team, Florida State finished shooting 43 percent from the field (34-of-79) and added nine threes. Seven different players earned a triple, with Emma Risch recording three herself. Florida State generated 34 turnovers from the Warriors, converting them into 45 points. Defensively, 10 different Seminoles combined to swipe 18 steals from the Warriors, with both Greene and Stewart grabbing four.Â
Thursday's game will air on the ACC Network Extra (ACCNX) with Shawn Davison and Melissa Bruner on the call. Fans can also catch the radio broadcast with Scott Kornberg on 96.5 FM, on the Seminoles Game Day app and Seminoles.com. Following Thursday's matinee, FSU will host Florida A&M on Sunday at 2 p.m. for 850 night. Fans can purchase two tickets for $8.50.
