Bowles Nets 17 Points on Thursday vs.Cal

TALLAHASSEE - The Florida State women's basketball team (9-18, 4-11 ACC) fell to California (17-11, 8-7 ACC) by a final score of 75-62 on Thursday night at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
 
Florida State was led by senior guard Sydney Bowles with 17 points, followed by Sole Williams who scored 13. Bowles finished the game 6-of-12 from the floor and was 4-of-7 from behind the arc.
 
In the first quarter, the Seminoles were 7-of-9 from the free throw line to start, but Bowles drained a buzzer-beater three-pointer to close out the quarter with the Noles leading 18-16.
 
Bowles stayed hot to start the second, sinking two more threes within 65 seconds. She led the Noles with eight points in the quarter. FSU continued to fight,  registering five steals, but trailed by two at the half, 32-30.
 
The Seminoles finished the game forcing 15 turnovers, including eight steals.
 
Williams sank a three-pointer to start off the second half, beginning an eight-point scoring streak.  Williams led the frame with 11 points as the Noles outscored Cal 23-18 in the third, taking a slight lead to the fourth, 53-50.
 
The Golden Bears found momentum in the fourth, taking the game 75-62.
 
Florida State will recognize its senior class in at the final regular season home game on Sunday, Feb. 22, hosting Stanford at 2 p.m. on the ACC Network (ACCN).
