CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Robert McCray V scored a season-high 30 points to lead four Seminoles in double figure scoring as Florida State's 95-89 victory against the Cal Golden Bears in the second round of the ACC tournament at the Spectrum Center. McCray V's 30 points eclipsed his previous season-high of 29 points, which he scored twice this season. He also recorded a game-high eight assists as the Seminoles advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament where they will face the No 1 ranked and No. 1 seeded Duke Blue Devils on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Florida State improved to 18-14 on the season. Cal fell to 21-11.
McCray V's 30 points marked the third time a Seminole has scored 30 or more points in an ACC Tournament game. Jamir Watkins scored 34 points against Virginia Tech on March 10, 2024 in an 86-76 win over the Hokies. Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 30 points on March 11, 2015, in a 76-73 win over Clemson in the second round of the 2015 ACC Tournament.
Florida State's 95 points marks the most points scored by a Seminole team in ACC tournament history. The Seminoles' 95 points also marks the most points they scored in any ACC game this season, eclipsing the previous total of 92, which they scored against Virginia Tech on February 14, 2026.
With Florida State's victory, Luke Loucks became the third head coach in Florida State history to win his first ACC tournament game.
Cal opened the game with a 9-2 lead with 16:16 to play in the first half.
McCray V would then score five straight points to cut the lead to four at 11-7.

The Seminoles would then go on an 18-2 run to take a 28-15 lead with eight minutes to play in the first half.
Florida State would not relinquish the lead from that point.
MaGee scored 13 points and made four 3-point shots. He has made four or more 3-point shots five times this season.
The Seminoles led the Golden Bears 46-32 at the half.
Chauncey Wiggins opened the second half for the Seminoles, draining a 3-point shot.
Wiggins would finish the game with 14 points and shoot .500 percent from the 3-point line (2-4). He has recorded double-digit points in five consecutive games.
Florida State held a 51-39 lead with 17:19 remaining in the game. Lajae Jones would throw down a dunk that would spark a 10-2 run and put the Seminoles ahead 61-41.
Jones finished his night with 15 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. He has finished in double-figures in three consecutive games and has grabbed multiple steals 13 times this season.
A late push from the Golden Bears would cut Florida State's lead to eight, 94-86, with just 20 seconds remaining in the game.
McCray V would sink a clutch free throw (for his 30th point) to seal the victory for the Seminoles.
