A high scoring guard who can play both the point and shooting guard positions and will thrive in Florida State head coach Luke Louck’s system who is in his first year at Florida State…a natural lefty who excels at playing both the point and shooting guard positions…has long had the reputation as a scorer but has added the role as an excellent facilitator in his two seasons at Jacksonville…a natural lefthander…shoots the basketball with confidence and rebounds well for a guard…a very capable defender…incredibly explosive and gets up and down the court quickly…an incredibly gifted player in transition…an explosive point guard with the ball in his hands…an outstanding shot maker and a smart shot taker…has great size and is extremely athletic…entered the transfer portal on March 28 and committed to Seminole head coach Luke Loucks and his staff on April 3, 2025…enters his first season at Florida State with 1,133 career points…scored his 1,000th career points as he totaled 16 points in Jacksonville’s 77-62 win over Central Arkansas on February 13, 2025…scored 26 points in his one season at Wake Forest and totaled 1,107 career points in two seasons and 64 games at Jacksonville…his single season scoring totals of 589 points (2023-24, tied for 11th) and 518 points (2024-25, tied for 24) make him one of only six players in school history (including the legendary Artis Gilmore) with multiple single-season scoring totals in the top 25 and Jacksonville basketball history…his 1,107 career points is the 25th highest scoring total for career points at Jacksonville…a starter for Jacksonville in their game against the University of the Incarnate Word in the 2025 College Basketball Invitational…Jacksonville fell to Incarnate Word by an 87-71 margin in the first round of the CBI at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla...declared for the NBA Draft following his first season at Jacksonville, received important feedback, and has improved as a player from the experience of visiting with several NBA teams.

Averaged 16.2 points (first on the team), a career-high 4.8 rebounds (third), a career-high 4.5 assists (first), and a career-high 1.4 steals per game (second), while making 47 3-point field goals (third) and 93 free throws (second)…played in all 32 of the Dolphins’ games while earning a career-high 31 starting assignments…led Jacksonville to a 19-14 overall record and a 12-6 mark in Atlantic Sun play…earned career-high statistics for games started (31), field goals attempted (442), defensive rebounds (124), total rebounds (155), average rebounds per game (4.8), assists (143), assists per game (4.5) and blocked shots (11) while shooting a career-high .762 from the free throw line…earned All-Atlantic Sun First-Team honors…named to the All-Atlantic Sun Tournament team…named 2024-25 Atlantic Sun preseason Player of the Year and to the preseason All Atlantic Sun Team…was also named as the Atlantic Sun Preseason Player of the Year in a fan vote…his 518 points scored is tied for the 24th highest single-season total in school history…first career double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds came in a win over Eastern Kentucky (Feb. 24) which helped the Dolphins clinch a season sweep over the Colonels and a home playoff game for Atlantic Sun Tournament...recorded second career double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds in the Dolphins’ Atlantic Sun quarterfinal victory over Eastern Kentucky (March 3)…a starter for Jacksonville and was in the starting lineup for 31 of 32 games…ranked in the top 25 in seven different statistical categories in the Atlantic Sun final statistics: fourth in assists, sixth in scoring, seventh in steals, ninth in field goal shooting percentage, 14th in assist:turnover ratio, 17th in blocked shots and 22nd in the conference in rebounding…led the team in scoring for the second consecutive season…scored in double figures in 25 of his 32 games played including his season-high of 26 points against Furman (Nov. 11), North Florida (Feb. 1), and against Eastern Kentucky (March 3) in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Sun Tournament (March 3)…totaled 20 or more points in 10 games -- 26 against Furman, 26 against North Florida, 26 against Eastern Kentucky, 24 against Queens College (Jan. 25), 22 against East Tennessee State (Dec. 14), 22 against Lipscomb (Jan. 2), 22 at North Florida (Feb 20), 21 against Siena (Nov. 26), 20 at Florida (Nov. 7), and 20 against Mercer (Nov. 25)…scored in double figures from 11 consecutive games from December 14 against East Tennessee through February 1 against North Florida…totaled 213 points during the 11 games span for a 19.4 points per game scoring average…his career-high of 10 rebounds came in double-double performances of 15 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky and 26 points and 10 rebounds against Eastern Kentucky in the Atlantic Sun Tournament…totaled eight rebounds or more six times including eight each against Mercer (Nov 25) and Siena (26) in consecutive games, eight in conference games against North Florida (Feb. 1) and Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 18) as well as two late season games against Eastern Kentucky…led the Dolphins in assists for the second consecutive season with 143 and a 4.5 assists per game average…his career-high of nine assists came against South Carolina State with eight each coming at Virginia Tech (Nov. 20) and against Stetson (Feb. 26)…totaled 17 points and eight assists as Jacksonville defeated Virginia Tech, 74-64, on the road in Blacksburg for the Dolphins first win over an ACC team since defeating Maryland, 68-53, on December 9, 1989 in Cole Field House and their first win over a power four team since defeating Florida in 2010…six or more assists came with nine against South Carolina State, eight against Virginia Tech and Stetson, seven at West Georgia (Jan. 23) and North Alabama (Feb. 15), and six each against Florida Tech (Dec. 5) and North Florida (Feb. 1)…totaled a career-high 11 blocked shots with his career-high of four coming against East Tennessee State (Dec. 14) and multiple blocked shots in four total games against East Tennessee State and with two each against South Carolina State, at Queens College, and at Florida Gulf Coast.

AT JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY (2024)

Played in 14 games as a freshman at Wake Forest…scored a season-high eight points, with two made three-pointers against North Carolina A&T(Nov. 20)…scored one point in his collegiate debut against William & Mary (Nov. 10)..earned plying time in eight ACC games with playing time coming against Florida State (Jan. 4), at Virginia (Jan. 15), North Carolina (Jan. 22), Boston College (Jan. 24), at Syracuse (Jan. 29), Pittsburgh (Feb 2), Louisville (Feb. 26), and NC State (March 2)…totaled two points in seven minutes of playing time in Wake Forest’s 76-54 win over Florida State in Winston-Salem…totaled his ACC career-high of 5 points against Boston College in Winston Salem…was a perfect two of two from the field and made his only 3-point shot against the Eagles as the Wake Foerst defeated the Eagles in Winston-Salem (Jan 24)…also scored two points at Syracuse, against Pittsburgh, and NC State…scored 14 points in 19 minutes of playing time in his eight ACC games.. scored 14 of his season total of 26 points in ACC play.

Graduated from A.C. Flora High School in Columbia, S.C. in 2021…named as the Region 5-4A Player of the Year in South Carolina in 2020 and 2021...two-time All-Region First Team selection...top-125 recruit by Rivals...ranked the No. 11 combo guard nationally by 247Sports...won a state championship as a track and field star in the high jump as a senior in 2021…a member of the National Honor Society…helped lead the Falcons to the Class 4A Lower State Championship game in 2018...the Falcons were the three-time regional champions (2019, 2020, 2021) during his standout prep career.

Born: September 26, 2002…Robert is the son of Tormesha Hayes and Robert McCray IV and Krystal Smith McCray…his father is the head coach at CA Johnson High School in Columbia, S.C…has eight siblings -- Prince, Milton, Antwan, Laronda, Tyreek, Justin, Tavon, Shaquanda – aged nine through 26 and he falls directly in the middle of Laronda and Tyreek as the fifth youngest of the children in his family…a sister, Shaquanda Miller McCray played basketball at Georgia State and professionally overseas in Italy and Germany…loves clothes, shoes, and fashion…major is communications.
