TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team (4-10, 0-4 ACC) is set to host its first home ACC matches this weekend at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center. Friday marks FSU's Seminole Heritage match against No. 15 Virginia (11-4, 4-0) at 4 p.m. with the weekend concluding on Sunday for a Paint It Pink match against Virginia Tech (3-9, 0-4) at noon.
The Seminoles are 28-18 all-time against the Cavaliers dating back to 1978. FSU defeated Virginia at Speicher in 2021 in a top-10 matchup and earned a 4-3 victory. Florida State also holds a 23-4 all-time lead over the Hokies, defeating them 5-2 in their last matchup at Speicher, and have won five consecutive matches in the series.
Florida State has shown strength in doubles play, posting a 20-15 dual match record. Eva Shaw and Tina Li lead the way with a 5-2 record, including three ACC victories.
In singles, Mary Boyce Deatherage and Shaw both have 11 singles victories. Shaw enters the weekend 2-1 in ACC play. Freshman Abby Kelliher has added depth with a 2-1 dual match record.
Florida State will look to carry momentum from its last home outing, where it earned a pair of 4-0 victories over Georgia State and Alabama State. The Seminoles are 3-1 at home this season and will look to bring that success into conference play.
