Noles Battle Tough but Fall at No. 22 Clemson

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team (4-13, 0-7 ACC) fell 4-2 at No. 22 Clemson (15-4, 5-2) on Friday evening at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

Cade Cricchio and Mary Boyce Deatherage secured their fourth straight ACC doubles win, while earning their 10th victory of the season and improving to 6-1 in conference play.

Kristyna Lavickova and Tina Li teamed up in doubles for the first time this season, defeating No. 83 Romana Cisovska and Talia Neilson-Gatenby 6-4 on Court 2 to clinch the doubles point for Florida State.

Clemson opened singles play with wins on Courts 1 and 4 to take a 2-1 advantage.

Li and Deatherage each claimed their opening sets on Courts 2 and 3. Li followed with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory, earning her first ACC singles win of the season and tying the match at 2-2.

The Tigers regained the lead at 3-2 with a win on Court 6.

On Court 6, Abby Kelliher dropped the first set and trailed 3-0 in the second before rallying with six consecutive games to force a third set. Deatherage also went to a third set on Court 2 after dropping her second set.

Clemson clinched the match with a victory on Court 5.

At the time of the clinch, Deatherage held a 5-4 lead in the third set on Court 2.

Florida State will travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech in its final regular-season road match on Sunday. First serve is set for noon at the Byers Tennis Complex.
