Nine Seminoles Set to Dive at NCAA Zone B Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 13/NR Florida State swimming and diving team will compete at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships from March 8-11 in Athens, Georgia.
 
The meet, which serves as the qualifying event for the NCAA Championships for FSU's divers, will begin with the women's 1-meter on Sunday, March 8, at 12:15 p.m. ET. On Monday, March 9, the women will dive the 3-meter at 11:15 a.m. followed by the men's 1-meter at 3:40 p.m. Day three will feature the women's platform at 11:15 a.m. and the men on 3-meter at 2:40 p.m. The event will wrap up on Wednesday, March 11, with the men's platform beginning at 11:15 a.m.

The Seminoles will be represented by nine divers, five men and four women, competing across all four days.
 
On day one, redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark and sophomore Evelyn Hall will dive in the women's 1-meter. Day two features Clark, Hall and freshman Brooklyn Markusson on women's 3-meter while senior Jack Bessire, sophomore Hayden Schroder and freshmen Jack Sparks and Maxwell Shaver will take part in the men's 1-meter.
 
Day three will see Clark and Markusson compete in the women's platform and Schroeder, Bessire, Sparks, Shaver and sophomore Carlos Vargas will take the boards in the men's 3-meter. The meet concludes on day four with Vargas and Schroeder set to represent Florida State in the men's platform event.
 
Following prelims, the top 18 divers in each event will advance to the finals. From there, the athletes will earn qualification to the NCAA Championships in Atlanta. On the women's side, 11 divers will qualify on 1-meter, nine on 3-meter and seven on platform. For the men, eight divers will advance on 1-meter, six on 3-meter and seven on platform. Divers who automatically qualify in one event can add another event to their NCAA schedule by finishing in the top 12.
 
During the 2026 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships held from February 15-21, Clark and Vargas each won bronze medals on platform, marking the first time since 2017 that FSU had both a male and female diver medal at the competition.
 
The Florida State women swimmers have already secured NCAA Championships qualification in four events, set for March 18-21. The men's swimming qualifiers will be announced next week.
