Seminoles Fall to No. 22 Duke

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women's tennis team (6-15, 2-9 ACC) dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 22 Duke (16-6, 9-2) on Friday afternoon at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
Juniors Eva Shaw and Laura Putz battled on Court 1 in doubles, rallying from a 4-2 deficit to even the score at 5-5 before the match was left unfinished as the doubles point was decided. Duke secured the point with wins on Courts 2 and 3.
In singles play, Shaw delivered a strong performance, taking the opening set 6-1 over No. 16 Irina Balus. After splitting the first two sets, Shaw trailed 4-3 in the third when play was halted.
Duke clinched the match with victories on Courts 2, 5, and 6.
Florida State returns to action Sunday for its regular-season finale, hosting No. 5 North Carolina at noon on Senior Day. Before the match, FSU will hold a Senior Day ceremony to recognize seniors Cade Cricchio, Kristyna Lavickova and Tina Li.
